Dogs that serve in the military deserve every bit of honor and respect as much as any human, don’t you agree? Exposed to the same elements and fighting for their country, military dogs are loyal, valiant and brave. So, why did it take so much time for the government to properly facilitate the retirement of our military dogs? Everyone deserves a good answer to that question.
Now everyone can collectively breathe a sigh of relief as a new bill has been recently passed which mandates that every American soldier dog should rightfully retire to U.S. soil where they can easily reunite with their former handlers. Isn’t that such heartwarming news? Now, these soldier dogs won’t be stuck in whichever country they’re assigned in but will actually have the opportunity to enjoy retirement in the States and back in the familiar arms of their handlers.
“These dogs serve their country just like any other soldier and form strong bonds with their soldier handlers during their service. Experts estimate that each military dog saves the lives of between 150-200 service members”
