There's A Fine For Not Leashing Your Dog???

Surely every dog owner likes to take their dog out for a walk every now and then, but do you really need to always leash your dog everywhere you go?

– There’s a policy in New Castle County, where pet owners are REQUIRED to always leash their dogs when going out.
– The policy is so strictly implemented that a monetary fine is imposed when it is not followed.
– Safety and security is the main target why this policy is being imposed in the county.

Public places such as parks and malls, where many people frequently visit, need to remain safe and secure not only from criminals but also from possible animal attacks.

With this goal in mind, the New Castle County police department has implemented a policy that requires ALL dog owners to leash their pets when taking them out for a walk.

The police are now heightening their enforcement of the dog off-leash code, where an owner can be fined up to $500 for a first-time offense, up to $750 for a second-time offense, and up to $1,000 for every succeeding offense thereafter.
